What to check in the bathroom before buying a smart toilet
Power socket, waste outlet, water pressure and space: the checks to make with your plumber before choosing the model, to avoid surprises on installation day.

A smart toilet connects to the water supply like a traditional fixture, but it also needs electricity and, in many cases, a minimum water pressure. A few checks made before purchase allow you to choose the right model and to reach installation without surprises. Installation is carried out by your own plumber or installer: it is to them that you should show this list and the specifications of the model you are interested in.
The power socket near the toilet
All smart toilets and bidet seats run on electricity: they heat the water and the seat, move the nozzle and power the sensors and night light. You therefore need a socket near the fixture. Keliss specifications state the rated voltage and power: on floor-standing models the stated power ranges from about 1000 to 1600 W, depending on the model.
If there is no socket in the right position in the bathroom, one needs to be planned beforehand. The position, circuit and protection of the installation are assessed by an electrician, in compliance with the regulations for bathrooms. Many Keliss models have earth-leakage protection and an IPX4 water protection rating, but this is no substitute for a properly executed electrical installation.
The waste outlet and its distance from the wall
For a floor-standing model, the position of the waste outlet matters: in the floor or in the wall, and at what distance from the wall. This measurement is called the outlet centre distance. For Keliss floor-standing models the specifications state an outlet distance customisable by country: this is a detail to clarify before ordering, with your bathroom measurements to hand.
For a wall-hung model the question is different: is there already a concealed frame with a cistern in the wall, or can one be installed? If the answer is no, a model with an integrated tank, such as the Sanova S005F, avoids the separate cistern. If, on the other hand, you are replacing a floor-standing toilet with a standard rear outlet, the Sanova S002F is designed precisely for this case.

Water pressure
Tankless smart toilets take water directly from the mains and need a minimum pressure to wash and flush properly. Keliss specifications give the supply pressure range: for many tankless floor-standing models the stated minimum is 0.15 MPa, while models with a tank or bidet seats accept lower values.
If your household pressure is low, for example on the top floor or in an older system, consider a model with a tank or a booster pump, such as the AussieLux Ultra, or the Sanova I7, designed to flush from as little as 0.05 MPa. Your plumber can measure the pressure with a pressure gauge.
The specifications also give the permitted inlet water temperature: this detail should also be shown to your plumber, who will choose which pipe to connect the toilet to. It is also worth having a stop valve near the fixture, so that you can shut off the water without intervening on the whole household system when maintenance is needed.
The space around the fixture
Measure the space available in front of and beside the toilet and compare it with the dimensions in the specifications. A smart toilet may be deeper than the toilet you have today, because it contains the electronics and, sometimes, the tank: always compare the dimensions in the specifications with your own measurements. Also allow space to open the lid and to reach the side knob.
For a bidet seat, check the shape and dimensions of the existing bowl: Keliss bidet seats are elongated and their dimensions are given in the specifications.
A list to take to your plumber
- Specifications and manual of the chosen model, with dimensions, pressure and electrical data.
- Position and type of waste outlet, with the measured outlet distance.
- Mains water pressure.
- Presence and position of the power socket.
- Space available in front of and beside the fixture.
