How to choose the right mirror: shapes, series and sizes

Round, oval, rectangular or cabinet: how to find your way among the Lunar, Medusa and Venus series and how to choose the size to suit the washbasin and the wall.

A bathroom mirror is used every day and is noticed every time you enter the bathroom. Keliss smart mirrors are grouped into three series, Lunar, Medusa and Venus, which differ above all in shape and in the way the light leaves the glass. Here is how to find your way.

Lunar series: round mirrors

The Lunar series brings together the round mirrors. A round shape softens the lines of the bathroom and works well above a single washbasin. The differences between the models lie in the light and the frame:

  • Stun has a powder-coated aluminium frame, in matt black or matt gold, diameter 32 inches (approx. 81 cm).
  • Darkside has an inset and a matt gold aluminium frame, diameter 28 inches (approx. 71 cm).
  • Stargaze projects a circular halo of light onto the wall, in 24 and 30 inch diameters (approx. 61 and 76 cm).
  • Daydream has a 20 mm perimeter light band, in 24, 32 and 36 inch diameters (approx. 61, 81 and 91 cm).

Medusa series: rectangles, ovals and cabinets

The Medusa series is the most varied. It includes rectangular mirrors with a frosted edge or band, such as Maiden, Nethra and Aspire; the 24x32 inch oval Neptune, which can be installed vertically or horizontally; and two mirror cabinets, Gaze and Enchant.

Maiden and Aspire measure 22x60 inches, that is approx. 56x152 cm: they are full-length mirrors, also suitable for a bedroom or a walk-in wardrobe. Nethra measures 22x48 inches, approx. 56x122 cm. The Gaze and Enchant cabinets are the choice for those who need storage: anodised aluminium frame, three tempered glass shelves, an internal USB charger and power socket, soft-close hinges, wall-mounted or recessed installation.

Venus series: rectangles with front light or backlit

The Venus series brings together rectangular mirrors in several sizes, all of which can be installed vertically or horizontally. Magic is backlit and spreads the light onto the wall; Polar has a vertical light band; Vanity has two, at the sides, an arrangement that lights the face from both sides; Trend has a frosted perimeter edge and an anti-fog that switches itself off; Vitality has an inner frosted band.

Sizes range from 24x30 inches (approx. 61x76 cm) to 48x36 inches (approx. 122x91 cm), with different combinations depending on the model.

How to choose the size

A few practical criteria, to adapt to your bathroom:

  • Width: the mirror usually does not exceed the width of the vanity unit; with a double washbasin you can choose a wide mirror or two identical mirrors.
  • Height: the mirror should frame the face of whoever uses it, including people of different heights; models that can be installed vertically help in narrow, tall bathrooms.
  • Space around: leave a margin from shelves, wall lights and wall-mounted taps.
  • Depth: for a cabinet, check the wall thickness if you are considering recessed installation.

Remember that Keliss sizes are given in inches: one inch corresponds to 2.54 cm.

For the mounting height, a common criterion is to place the centre of the mirror roughly at the eye level of the person who uses it most often. Before drilling the wall, try the position with a sheet of paper of the same size fixed with adhesive tape: it is a simple way to see the bulk and proportions.

Light, connection and finishes

For the same shape, look at how the light leaves the mirror, whether the model has anti-fog, what type of touch switch it has and how it is connected: some mirrors have a cable with a plug, others a hardwired connection to the electrical system, to be entrusted to an electrician. The guide to the technical specifications explains colour temperature, CRI and IP44.
